Ice_ic

Ice I_c is a metastable cubic crystalline variant of ice. The oxygen atoms are arranged in a diamond structure. It is produced at temperatures between 130-150 K, and is stable for up to 200 K, when it transforms into ice I_h. It is occasionally present in the upper atmosphere.

Ordinary water ice is known as ice I_h, (in the Bridgman nomenclature). Different types of ice, from ice II to ice XIV, have been created in the laboratory at different temperatures and pressures.
